Activity recognition is the use of sensor data to infer the activity of human users. For example, accelerometer data from a mobile phone can be used to detect whether the user is running, walking or stationary, or cameras can be used to distinguish tasks such as chopping onions or washing the dishes in a kitchen. Typically more than one source of data is used requiring sensor fusion.
